ADVENT DAY SIX
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
TO THE TIRED, WEARY & WEAK
I can’t think of a more fitting description of a grieving mama walking through the holidays. Faint, weary, lacking strength and power. Tired.
Around every corner there is a reminder of what has been lost. And it is exhausting fighting for truth in those moments. Fighting for hope. We just get weary.
The hebrew word/phrase for “he has no” means nonexistent, incurable, nothing. Have you ever felt that way? Do you feel that way right now? That power or strength in your heart and mind is nonexistent? I have. And I am grateful for a God who isn’t intimidated by “nothing” or “incurable” in fact, didn’t our God create everything from nothing?
See what happens when we shift our eyes from our own weariness and onto who God is, onto His character? When we trust that He is everlasting and creator, when we remember His strength is unending and He never grows weary? We have hope.
Our God does not grow weary. He does not get tired. He isn’t confused by our neediness or annoyed by it either. In fact He acknowledges that we will grow weary and we will get tired – He acknowledges that we need Him and that He meets us right in the middle of that need. He promises to give us power and strength.
Father, in our weakest moments would you remind us who You are? Would you remind us that You are everlasting and creator? Would you remind our hearts that you never grow weary and never lose strength? Father would you strengthen our weary souls today?
